Transport Disagreement Essays

Transport Disagreement Essays Transport Disagreement Essay Transport Disagreement Essay A difference occurred between the gatherings (for example the year 13 business group and European Study Tours). The agreement guaranteed that there would be a mentor at the removal for the individuals who went on the Prague trip. Anyway in the latest possible time, it was discovered that the mentor was not at the removal for those on the Prague trip, and if it somehow managed to be taken it must be paid for.The terms and states of the European Study Tours organization for grumblings and issues (euro-study-tours.co.uk/pages/normal/common.aspx?id=33l=0) states that: For all objections and cases which don't include demise, individual injury or disease, we lament we can't acknowledge obligation on the off chance that you neglect to tell us of the protest or guarantee altogether as per this proviso. In the event that you neglect to follow this basic grievances technique, youre option to guarantee the pay you may somehow or another have been qualified for might be influenced or even lost as a result. As an outcome, Miss Carter called the crisis contact of European Study Tours Will, the chief, and clarified that she was unsatisfied with the manner in which they dealt with things. So as a methods for critical thinking, a portion of the possibility cash raised from the gathering pledges occasions sack pressing and the cake slow down, was utilized to pay for the cable car administration to get to the bowling alley, where following an hour of time was lost to get ready for the stream journey later in the evening.Norah a specialist of Excalibur a visit organization in Prague, may have caused this misconception because of correspondence issues. She felt that the distillery business visit would have been in the wake of bowling rather than previously. In this manner, she may have imagined that the mentor was not required since the bowling alley was a short stroll from Park Hotel. This is as the bowling community is situated in the old town square in Prague (pragueexperience.com/places.asp?PlaceID=654) just as Park Hotel (lodgings of-prague.com/park/index.htm) which is a brief stroll from the bowling centre. As an outcome, it was helpful for the year thirteen business group to have marked a composed agreement with European Study Tours to guarantee remuneration for the mentor burden during the excursion. Likewise, language obstructions turned into a major issue for the gathering during the Prague trip. A case of this was with year thirteen business understudy Joe Medlin, who requested a pizza at the Park Hotel Pizzeria in Prague and got an inappropriate one, making the gathering late. This likewise exhibits how language obstructions created to turn into a major issue for the group.FlightsThe simple stream trip to Prague was set to take off from London Gatwick at 6.25pm GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). Be that as it may, this flight was deferred by 60 minutes. For this situation, the gathering head Miss Carter was not in a situation to submit a question to pick up pay for the gathering, because of the terms and conditions:The flight timings given on booking and point by point on your affirmation receipt are for general direction just and are liable to change. The most recent timings will be appeared on your tickets or flight affirmation which will be despatched to you roughly fourteen days before takeoff. You should appropriately check your tickets cautiously quickly on receipt to guarantee you have the right flight times. It is conceivable that flight times might be changed considerably after tickets have been despatched we will get in touch with you as quickly as time permits if this happens. In this way the gathering chief was not qualified for guarantee pay or help for the gathering after the flight delay happened. This was as the aircraft Easy Jet was giving the air transport and not European Study Tours who just organized it, which is expressed in the terms and conditions for flight delays: We lament we are not in a situation to offer you any help with the occasion of postponement at your outward or toward home purpose of takeoff. Under EU law you have rights in certain conditions to discounts as well as pay from your carrier in instances of denied loading up, crossing out or deferral to flights. Full subtleties of these rights will be advanced at EU air terminals and will likewise be accessible from Airlines. Be that as it may, repayment in such cases is the duty of the aircraft and won't consequently qualifies you for a discount of your vacation cost from us. We can't acknowledge obligation for any postpone which is because of any of the reasons set out in statement 10(1) of these booking conditions (which incorporates the conduct of any passenger(s) on the flight who, for instance, neglects to check in or load up on schedule).

The day began as typical as any day could be. I woke up, played with my bugs life finger manikins, ate some grain, jumped in the shower, and took off towards school. I was running late, obviously, when my vehicle chose not to begin. So normally, rather than approaching my folks for a ride, I chose to run. I made it most of the way to the school when I felt something creeping on my head. I quickly began shouting and turning around and around until I fell on the ground in a panic. My legs started to thrash, I began beating my hands on the ground, and started reciting, Bog Log, Shimmy Change, Tipsy Tops, AWAKE! At the point when my eyes flew open, I was unable to accept what I saw. My vision was so clear. I could see a total circle right around me. I thought it was somewhat odd that I didnt need to pivot to finish this assignment, however my consideration was not centered around what change had occurred. I attempted to shout once more, yet all that came was a similar clamor again and again. When I got tired of attempting to shout, I chose I better get the opportunity to class regardless of what shape I was In. At the point when I showed up at the school, I remained there, fixing on the best way to open the entryway. I spotted Lope coming out of the workplace towards the front entryway, so I held In the nursery my Mrs. . Greens room. I sat tight for him to exit the entryway and dashed Into the school.I Hough I had made It with out anybody seeing me however Mr.. Sutton began strolling the other way as Lope. I remained as still as could be expected under the circumstances. At the point when I saw that he was conversing with himself again about how great he glanced In his suit, I realized I was protected. I slithered to the workplace so I could take a gander at the clock and see which class I expected to join in. It was fourth hour, which implied the hour was government class. My heart sank. From the earliest starting point of the year, Mr.. Barrett set just two principles. One, no looking at him straightforwardly without flinching, and two, no looking at, taking a gander at, or crushingI couldn't in any event, carry my self to give the signal. Mr.. Barrettes study hall, red glimmering lights with alerts enacted, and a noisy machine-Like sound snarled from Inside. The entryway opened, I saw a puff of residue, and before I hit the ground, I saw In Mr.. Barrettes shirt pocket a book entitled; How to be Prepared When Killer Bugs Strike For Dummies. I hit the ground and everything went dark. Fantastic things had occurred that odd day. At the point when I stirred, I had what felt Like the most exceedingly awful agony on the planet shooting completely through the front side of my body.I glanced around and acknowledged I was spread out In the he shade of a scrumptious summer tomato. For 4 hours, I had been laying in the street having a fantasy about transforming into a mammoth bug while procuring the most exceedingly terrible burn from a mind-blowing sun. I stood up, horrendously dismissed the stone and earth, and advanced down the way towards school for the second, and what I would have liked to be, the last time that day. Nothing was going to prevent me from having a decent day, not so much as a severely charred area That was until I heard the tires screech, horn sound, and the entire pattern of the day starting again.

Speech on Sleep

As indicated by the examination of Dr. James B. Maas, 40% of Americans (100 million individuals) are reasonably to seriously restless! Secondary school and undergrads are among the most restless individuals in our populace. 60% are sluggish during the day and 30% nod off in class in any event once per week. The normal individual needs in any event seven to nine hours of rest each night yet Many individuals don't get the rest they need on the grounds that their timetables don’t permit satisfactory time for it and they don't have the foggiest idea about the negative impacts absence of rest can have on their wellbeing and working. Today I’m going to illuminate you on the impacts absence of rest has on our body, for example, sorrow, untimely skin maturing, and Obesity. Appeared in a recent report by scientists at the University of Pennsylvania, individuals who rested under five hours every night for seven evenings felt focused, pitiful, and intellectually depleted. After some time, absence of rest can add to the side effects of sadness since Depression results from serotonin lopsidedness, which manages disposition and rest. Next I referenced untimely skin maturing. At the point when you don’t get enough rest, your body discharges a greater amount of the pressure hormone called cortisol. In abundance sums, cortisol can separate skin collagen, the protein that keeps skin smooth and versatile, thus untimely wrinkles happen with in the skin. To wrap things up, weight gain. Absence of rest expands craving and hunger. As indicated by a recent report by Phil Berman and partners, individuals who rest under six hours daily were very nearly 30 percent bound to get fat than the individuals who dozed seven to nine hours. Not exclusively does rest misfortune seem to animate hunger, however it invigorates yearnings for high-fat and high-starch nourishments. To finish up, rest is a significant key factor to our day by day execution. Absence of rest prompts undesirable conditions like I referenced melancholy, untimely skin maturing, and unnecessary weight. Despite the fact that we as a whole have occupied timetables, it is extremely unlikely that everybody in this room cannot commit 7 to 9 hours out of the 24 hours there is in a day to rest.

Social Networking Sites As An Assessment Tool For...

Colleges and employers are now using Facebook and other social networking sites to gather information about prospective students and hires. When you apply for Graduate Schools, the admissions department will most likely be viewing your Facebook page at some point to try and learn a more about you. Since we know that nowadays having a â€Å"private† page is in fact very far from having actual â€Å"privacy,† many departments will be able to view profiles. It was found that about 21% of all college admissions departments in the United States are now using social networking sites as an assessment tool for prospective students compared to 0% just a few years ago (Barnes). Facebook users give up a huge amount of privacy the minute they sign up for their account. By registering for Facebook and agreeing to the terms and conditions, you give them the rights to any, and everything that you post on the website. Even if someone else posts a picture of you that you may not be quite proud of on their wall, that picture (or video) then becomes the property of Facebook. Animal Farm Paradox Analysis - 1013 Words

Published Sample Analysis: In this part in Animal Farm, the pigs wish to enact rules that will benefit them at the expense of the other animals on the farm. In one of their rules, a paradox is created whose function is to expose the truth that despite governments claiming to treat everyone equally, they tend to favor certain groups over others. The paradox is created through the statement that some are more equal than others, which is a contradicting statement because if some are more equal than others, then equality was never established. The effect of the device is to promote and spark new thinking within the reader towards the topic of equality. The reader will rethink what governments mean when they state that everyone is equal to one†¦show more content†¦Published Sample: In the beginning of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, a description of a rural Alabama town during the Great Depression era is given. Lee says that in the town, people â€Å"didn’t hu rry, because there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy, no money to buy it with, and nothing to see† (Lee 2). Published Sample Analysis: The device functions to create rhythm and flow within the sentence through a combination of both the sentence structure and the constant use of words beginning with â€Å"no†. The constant use of the negative words helps describe the town as an insignificant place where not much happens. Lee utilizes commas in quick succession, followed by the repeated words, in order to help emphasize the lack of events happening within the town. The constant use of the words similar in construction combined with the rhythmic flow created by the constant use of commas affects the piece by allowing Lee to stress the insignificance of the small town, which later contrasts with the largely significant event that occurs inside of the town. Lee is able to create the emphasis stated mainly through her use of commas to separate the similar words, as it allows Lee to state each aspect that makes the town insignificant one by one, almost in a list. Portfolio Is Aimed At Production F Music â€Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: How To The Portfolio Is Aimed At Production F Music? Answer: Introducation Apple has come up with an innovative portfolio which is aimed at the production f music. It is working on the innovation of CDS which will be used in apple devices which include DVDS, central processing units and other devices such as the iTunes. They are designing it in a way that it can also be accepted by other electronic devices, which include different brands of DVD, computers, ITUNES, IPods, and also Hoovers ((KIRCHHOFF, 2004). The company has designed its innovation by the use of high technology, which is imposing a stiff competition to the rest of the CDs in the word. However, they are not the leading producers, since they were not the fist or rather the pioneers of the production. They are therefore trying to innovate something unique that will capture the attention of potential buyers in the society. Apple Company is still working on the iPods, which have proven to be worlds greatest challenge of portable mobile phone and a computer at the same time (SOKEN, 2008). The iPods are selling at a higher rate since their demand is high. The buyers are recommending the product, and are marketing it at a higher rate, thus making other potential buyers to desire purchasing the same. However, all things that have advantages have disadvantages. Despite giving a one year warranty on the iPods, the apple company has not yet come up with resolutions of repairing fully damaged iPods. This as therefore caused many iPods going into waste, thus forcing the consumers to buy new ones. Secondly, there has not been found a better way of disposing spoiled templates, iPods and mobile phones (VAUGHAN, 2013). They are therefore lying in the houses of people, and in the stores of technicians. Apple has therefore faced this challenge for years, and must find a solution for the same, since it is unhealthy having electronics lying about everywhere in the world. Third, not all people are able to understand how to operate a template or an iPod . Since many people had got used to the use of keypad mobile phones, the change has drastically drawn them back, thus lowering the interest of the same people in the use of these new devices (O'GRADY, 2009). Most people, more so those of the older age, complain all day long since they desire watching videos from the iPods and templates of their next of keens. They cannot however operate the devices o their own, since they lack knowledge. Fourth, the cost of the iPods are increasing day in day out, thus discouraging the, local citizen from purchasing. Not all people can afford the cost of these devices, and they therefore not to survive with the little they have. Apple should therefore get into the matter and try to solve the same in time, before it loses customers, to other cheaper companies, who will produce similar devices. Apple can how ever keep its customers through meeting their demands. It should apply expertise in the field of manufacturing its products, to avid damages (HILL JONES, 2008). The devices should be designed in a way that they will serve the consumers for a long time, which is equivalent to the selling price of the device. In addition, they should c o me up with a better way of disposing electronics, to eliminate the bulky of wasted electronics in the houses and shops. Electronics are dangerous and must be disposed in secluded areas, and in a standard way, to reduce side effects to the environment. The price of the apple devices should be lowered. This is because most of potential consumers are finding it difficult to purchase the devices as a result of higher price (GEISSEL, 2012). Not all people can afford the price of these devices, and so most of them are lying idle in the shops without customers. Apple should lower the price, which will encourage purchase of many devices, thus clearing stock early in advance. Clearing of old stock calls for the manufacture of many more, thus increasing the productivity of the company. Apple should design their digital devise like iPods and templates in a way that all kinds of people can operate without direction .The devices being manufactured today are only targeted to the literate, thus counseling a large number of people who need to know more about the same devices (SWAMIDASS, 2008). There should also be special education, and free training, which will encourage the purchase of the same devices. This education must be targeted to all kinds of people, more so the potential consumers, who are most likely to be the best promoters of apple company. Education will open up their minds, and the same shall be spread to other groups of people such as the elderly, the blind and young teenagers. A burning issue which has come up of late concerning the deaths of workers in the apple company is a threat. It has shown that the environment where these electronic devices are being manufactured is not safe (HU?LSMANN, PFEFFERMANN 2011). Urgent action must be taken since most of the workers are running for their dear lives, after working in the company for a certain period of time. However, a resolution for the same is at hand. The apple company should ensure that the employees are given a contract of a certain period of time, not extending fie years. This is the period which leukemia cannot take root but can be dangerous if exceeded. The workers should therefore leave the workAnswer: willingly and look for other kind of job, to secure their lives and those of their families. References GEISSEL, S. (2012). Juvenile Crime Paper free essay sample

The amount of crime that is committed by juveniles in our country is astonishing. This crime is on the rise in many cities across our nation because we see news reports often concerning juveniles. The reasons behind this crime may be sociocultural or even biological. As a nation, we need to enforce ways to keep our youth from turning to a life filled with crime and ultimately, a life inside the correctional system. There are programs, but the final decisions lies within the juvenile himself. Our nation has several court systems. In the juvenile court system, one will find that there are some similarities with the adult court system. There are differences between the juvenile and the adult court systems also. One specific difference between these two courts is one’s constitutional rights. In a court which judges adults, these adults have the constitutional right to have his or her case heard and tried by a judge or a jury of his or her peers. We will write a custom essay sample on Juvenile Crime Paper or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page In juvenile court, the judge makes all of the decisions. The judge decides whether or not the juvenile has broken the law and whether or not the juvenile is guilty. Another difference concerns sentencing. When a judge in juvenile court is sentencing a juvenile, he takes into consideration that juvenile’s history and behavior. The judge may ask the parent, teacher or employer to speak concerning the juvenile’s behavior before sentencing. The main goal of the juvenile court is not to incarcerate the juvenile, but to deter him from crime and to rehabilitate him rather than punish him. Sometimes when an adult commits his first crime or a petty crime, he is â€Å"let off the hook† or given probation or even a short jail sentence. In the juvenile system, they are usually ordered or sentences to attend a juvenile facility, counseling, house arrest with electronic devices or boot camp. Juveniles are not offered bail as adult offenders are offered. Juveniles are sometimes turned over to their parents. In the adult system, bail can be requested. Even if the bail is denied, the adult offender is allowed to ask for bail. Juveniles do not have this advantage. These teenagers or juveniles who often times get into trouble are labeled as juvenile delinquents. A juvenile delinquent is a minor that fails to do what the law of duty requires (Schmalleger, 2011). This person is under the age of eighteen and has been found guilty by law of committing a crime. This is regarded by state law that the minor is lacing responsibility and because of this, he cannot be sentenced as an adult, but only as a juvenile. Crimes such as breaking curfew, offenses at school, drinking and graffiti are crimes that juveniles are normally charged with. These crimes are sometimes more of an annoyance than they are crimes. Juveniles are prohibited from smoking, drinking and carrying firearms. A status offence is a type of crime that is not based on prohibited actions but it rests with the fact that the offender has a certain personal conditioner of a specified character. Status offences are offences which are committed by juveniles and because of their age they are not considered to be an adult and therefore cannot be tried as an adult (Schmalleger, 2011). Status offences protect juveniles from harm because they are essentially too young. They are children in the sight of the law. Delinquency can relate to status of offences because of the things that these delinquents go through and how they can be different from the things that adults go through. Juveniles and children deal with anger, peer pressure, depression, childhood trauma, dysfunctional families, need for high academics and pressure regarding academics, idolizing rappers, actors and even criminals and bullying.. All of these things can cause delinquency to relate to status of offences. Research shows that there is not just one single cause for delinquency. While the things that I mentioned above may very well lead to delinquency, one doesn’t out rank the other and not one is the specific cause for delinquency. Many children in my town idolize this local rapper. For a very long time, he was suspected of hiring people to kill other local rappers. Even though this happened, he would give away turkeys during Thanksgiving, give away school supplies or even bicycles. Maybe he was thinking he was paying a penance and that his good deeds would balance out with the bad things that he was doing. Children all over this town were passionate about this young man. He was found guilty and sentenced to prison. However, the children want to be like him. I volunteered at an inner-city school and this man is the main topic of all the kids’ conversations! They absolutely idolized him. Therefore, they even formed gangs in his honor and began fighting and killing each other. I asked a student his reasons, and he told me the lyrics to the song are how they live. There are also positive variables that bring the rate of juvenile crime down. There are programs that are based in schools as well as outside of schools that help juveniles deal with emotional distress. Some of these programs just provide a release for these youth. They are taught how to control their emotions and behavior. They are even taught how to interact with each other in some programs. One key point of many programs is to teach juveniles conflict resolution. When they are faced with conflicts, they need to be able to make smart decisions. These are skills they are needed and are provided to them. They have to be taught how to make the right decisions when they are put in bad situations and this is the aim of such programs. At this time in our country, we are experiencing a difficult time with bullying. There are many anti-bullying campaigns which are in place in cities all across our nation. Bullying can have a horrible adverse effect on a juvenile. It can cause him to retaliate at worst, or even to act out in a harmful manner. These programs could possible reduce bullying by making juveniles aware of the harm that bullying can cause not only to the person who is being bullied, but to his family and friends as well. This will hopefully reduce the negative, aggressive behavior of bullies. Saying â€Å"No† to peer pressure can be another way to deter juveniles from crime. When they feel that they do not have to please their friends or to fit in, they can make better choices. I believe that the main support that juveniles need is the support of their family. When a child is raised in a functional home with rules, he has a better chance of not entering the juvenile court system or even the adult corrections system. These children not only look to their parents, they look to their older siblings, leaders in their communities, pastors, teachers and even their politicians. When we as adults break laws and are punished, even though we are punished, it still sends the wrong message to our children.

Youth Culture essays

Youth Culture essays Culture is the patterns of behavior and thinking that people living in social groups learn, create, and share. It refers to a society or group in which many people live and think in the same ways it also distinguishes one human group from others. For instance youth culture. Youth culture is a very big part of a young adults life. The way young adults dress, what they listen to, what they eat and what they do in their free time shows how their youth culture has influenced them. I think that TV and music has a major role in today's youth culture. Many young adults today listen to what is mostly "popular". For instance, I think hat MTV has a big influence in many of the young adults at my school. If they listen to a song on TRL they'll immediatly start loving that song and listen to it all the time. No matter if it's rap, rock or pop. They'll think it's cool and since everyone else is listening to it they'll love it. For clothes in your young teen years if you wear Abercrombie and Fitch people will think you're cool and you'll be part of the group. Many young adults stress out because of our youth culture. If they don't fit in or are in a group then they'll think that they aren't cool or have any friends. Youth culture is just part of our life. I think that adults are pretty much the ones who make up our youth culture because they are the ones who set up MTV and what will be on MTV. They are the ones who design the clothes and try to advertise it to us so that we wear it. And they are also the ones who choose what songs might be popular so that we start liking them. Many adults don't understand our youth culture now a days. Many of them think that our music is just "noise" and they can't even understand what they are saying when us young adults do understand it and enjoy it. Many of the songs do have a meaning and are not just descriminating women. In my opinion I think songs that descriminate women are q...

Politics of Poverty and Social Welfare Policy Essay - 1

Politics of Poverty and Social Welfare Policy - Essay Example Moreover, class, state and race have given shape to the way political actors behaved inside and outside the government possibilities and limits of state action in the United States. In the early American history poverty emanated from the processes of immigration, conquest, and the enforced labor that had accompanied the settlement of Europeans in North America thus the founding of United States. O’Brien( 9) argues that international development has been directing its efforts in global politics of alleviating poverty focusing on the poor and seeking policies that would lift them out of the bondage of poverty, be protected and later be compensated. This discourse needs to pave way for the global politics of welfare state rebuilding focusing on the alliances that are required to be there between the poor and the non-poor. The global neo-liberalism social policy has been facing challenges in the recent times to the extent of being seen as residual safety net approach. The World Ba nk, IMF and other aid agencies are being tasked with eroding the flawed assumption that issues related to poverty could be solved without tackling the issue of equity, social inclusion and the states’ role in encouraging development projects for the good of all social groups. This is because they utilized a more supervisory and directive stance in imposing market principles on the developing nations that are considered as poor. The â€Å"Washington Consensus† on international development in the 1990s was a fragment of the American welfare reform in the 1990s. In the recent times the nations that are still developing have been obliged to embrace the neoliberal-paternalistic policies for dealing with their own communities that are impoverished (E. O'Brien, p.20-22). Most of the welfare states in Europe were built for the workers and not necessarily the poor accommodating the needs of the middle class by provision of services that they would be ready to pay taxes. In Lati n America and Africa, import substitution and state led socialist post colonial development respectively resulted in embryonic partial welfare states. These state lead strategies of development were challenged and later destroyed during the structural period of adjustments. Therefore, to alleviate the issue of poverty we must ensure the country has higher education, primary and city hospitals together with rural clinics, wage related pensions, social pensions as well as transfer of cash to the poor. But to some extent a focus on the poor undermines the commitment of the middle class to pay taxes (E. E. O'Brien, p.10-12). Regulation of working classes in society which Pierre Bourdieu called, â€Å"the left hand† of the state is symbolized by public health care, education, social security, social housing and social assistance is being out of date in the United States or supplemented in the Western Europe by a ruling through its â€Å"right hand† where the courts, the pol ice, and the prison system re gradually becoming active and intrusive in the social spaces’ lower regions. Most governments are trying to undercut the new legitimacy of militants and â€Å"active minorities† within emerging social movements that is acquired through the daily struggles in order to prevent further

Annotated Bibliography Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 6

Annotated Bibliography - Essay Example Initially touted as a vision of the future, the message often became lost in the medium. Metropolis will be analyzed for it intention of purpose by the filmmaker and its reception as an entertainment of the day as well as the different messages both intended by its creator and as perceived by its audience. This book, while wide ranging, set the films in the backdrop of history and culture as well as box office and sales. Cook also goes about getting little know information that is not available elsewhere. He notes that Metropolis, although aimed at decrying the current state of affairs in Germany, especially the Nazi part, became one of Adolph Hitler’s favorite films. So much so that Frtiz Lang, the films director was offer the position of, â€Å"the leadership of the German film industry by the Nazi propaganda minister, Josef Goebbels,† (Cook 115) but he respectfully declined and being â€Å"Half-Jewish and a political liberal† (Cook 115) he respectfully declined and soon fled Germany for the Untied States. Cook also analyses the different version of the film that were shown in the US and the different, edit both for time and content, and the reactions each received. There are also excellent publicity posters throughout the book as well as descriptions of the cut ting-edge film processes of the time that were used in the creation of the film to amaze and interest its audience. This book also put the film into historical perspective but goes into more detail about the costs of production and the time of change from silent films to talkies and how that had affected the distribution of the film as well as the production problems it had and the expenses it incurred. Sound was becoming the investment that UFA was throwing their money into leaving silent films behind. Kopenick also discuses the genre of German Film at the time and what part Lang and other played in its development both in the area of technique

Love, Death and Fascist Iconography Essay Example for Free

Love, Death and Fascist Iconography Essay To the fascist artist, his or her own art is merely a vessel that encapsulates his or her own socially-motivated beliefs. The works of Yukio Mishima and Leni Riefenstahl, for instance, embody the essence of their individual nationalities at the height of their individual careers—nationalities that might transcend origin and geography, yet extol   culture, tradition, ritual and society.   Mishima and Riefenstahl exhibit incredible parallelism in their works. Mishima, in his short story Patriotism, describe the human form with such detail and meticulousness reminiscent of Riefenstahl’s style in her 1930’s films. Much like Riefenstahl’s The Last of the Nuba, the naked body is depicted as a means of fascist iconography—the body, perfect and pure in its own way, merges with a bigger community of bodies of like characteristics (Evans 31). Susan Sontag’s treatise on the works of Riefenstahl, Fascinating Fascism, breaks down the latter’s appreciation and fascination of the strong and beautiful Nuba figure as examples of Nazi ideology corresponding to the idea of aesthetics for fascists. Sontag writes, â€Å"Riefenstahl’s portrait of them evokes some of the larger themes of Nazi ideology: the contrast between the clean and the impure, the incorruptible and the defiled, the physical and the mental, the joyful and the critical (par. 27).† This description is echoed in Mishima’s Patriotism, when the lead character Takeyama decides to commit seppuku—ritual suicide by disembowelment—as an act of redemption from the dishonor incurred when his comrades formed alliances with the mutineers.   Mishima’s imagery of Takeyama and his wife Reiko’s preparations for the ritual, as well as the metaphors he uses in describing the couple’s physical forms conveys a fascination for perfection and beauty a la Riefenstahl—remarkable symbols of fascist iconography, as Sontag would consider. In its own effect, Takeyama, Reiko and the Nuba become examples of the â€Å"master race†, where everyone is beautiful, strong, and does not age (Trimborn McCown 256). Mishima and Riefenstahl’s works are also parallel in such that their depictions of death are detailed, beautiful and almost enthralling.     In Patriotism, death in is portrayed as a reward, a happy and celebrated ceremony that requires the utmost preparation. In the Nuba culture, death is a central event, along with fighting. In the Japanese culture, as evidenced by Mishima’s paramount detail in describing Takeyama’s death, death is a way for one to demonstrate his or her enduring loyalty and nationalism to the Imperial system. Death in both Mishima and Riefenstahl’s works surpass life’s merriest events—birth, marriage, love—at times besting even life itself. Mishima writes, â€Å"All around, vastly and untidily, stretched the country for which he grieved. He was to give his life for it. But would that great country, which he was prepared to remonstrate to the extent of destroying himself take the slightest heed of his death? He did not know; and not matter (par. 63).† Takeyama’s examination of self not only mirrors the authors suggestions of his own death wish, it also echoes the sentiments of those under the spell of a fascist ideology—their so-called patriotism—that converts their idea of nationhood as something not only territorial, but equally and incredibly spiritual. The young lieutenant and his bride chose their own death by seppuku, which may be seen as either an honorable and extremely devout approach, or as a self-destructive and deadly consequence of their fanaticism. Mishima unintentionally diverts the reader’s attention from this concept with his alluring illustrations of fascist ideals and concepts, again reminiscent of Riefenstahl’s imagery in her Nazi films. Sontag would consider it an absolute expression of fascist art, in the sense that it â€Å"glorifies surrender, exalts mindlessness, and glamorizes death (par. 36).† Above everything, Mishima verifies in his work and own life the burden that comes with the duty to abide by cultural tradition—duty can be all in one beautiful or ugly, life or death. Elegy to and Unfortunate Lady Essay -- essays papers

Elegy to and Unfortunate Lady In Alexander Pope’s poem â€Å"Elegy to the Memory of an Unfortunate Lady,† Pope uses a great amount of war-like imagery to enhance his vision of the suicide described. He creates allies and enemies, weapons and invasions, as well as the gruesome death that only seems to come from war. These pieces add to the overall meaning of the work and the vision of the event that has occurred, giving the reader an image of a battle occurring. The first images of the war or battle are that of the victim of battle. Starting at line four and extending to line ten, I find that Pope is using a great amount of imagery to depict the woman’s wound and the fate upon which she has fallen. In line four he describes her wound in only three words â€Å"bleeding bosom gor’d,† but he then extends the depiction of her wound into how it was obtained. He describes the knife or the dagger that she must have used to kill herself with as a â€Å"sword†, which is something that would typically be found in battle rather than in the case of a suicide. He also brings in the theory of the ancient Roman justice system for not just war but any crime. It is much greater and braver to die by your own sword than by any other. She kills herself for the simple fact that in her eyes she must be punished for loving some one too much; however, her death is the start of the real war, between Pope and the society and family that abandoned her. Pope sides with the ghost in the poem and criticizes her family and society for her death. In line thirty he states clearly his great dislike for the uncle who he labels as â€Å"Thou, mean deserter of thy brother’s blood!† This is an apparent line drawn between what Pope believed should have occurred and w... ... else, at least through her father or uncle, but once she died, all of her titles, wealth, beauty and honor meant nothing. They are things that could not be carried with her in her death. The lines about her becoming a pile of dust also fit with the image of a soldier who has fallen in battle because she is a pile of dust, which â€Å"all the proud shall be†. Every proud soldier who dies what they believe in becomes a pile of dust just like the lady in the poem. The war imagery in Pope’s poem helps define and clarify the point of view Pope has on the even that has occurred. It also gives Pope a poetic platform on which to condemn the opposite side. He uses the imagery to describe the victim of war, the way death and battle are in war, and the opposing sides of this war and why they are battling; creating a new view of the woman’s suicide and her as a soldier for love.

Cliques in High School Essay

In high school, students feel presured to fit in with a certain group of people share the same intrests as them, this is better known as cliques. This makes many students feel left out and lonely while at school. Cliques are always around eachother wiether its in between classes, at lunch, or after school. There are many different reasons that cliques in high school are formed. The fear of surviving alone in high school is a main concen for many students that find it hard to make friends, this is one example of why cliques are formed. Cliques are developed by student’s needs to establish an identity and to be accepted. Students always seeks their identity and one way to do that is to choose a group of students who have the same identity as them. Teenagers love to explore and take risks. In forming cliques, especially with those groups who are popular, they develop a sense of power. Cliques are also formed because of peer preasure. This is because teenageres feel a sense of security when they are around people they look up to. There are many different types of cliques students form in high school. Typicly in highschool the athletes tend to hang out together. This clique is known at the jocks. The intrests of the students that make up this group include sports, dating, and their apperence. The guys in this clique are appealing to most girls in the school. Jocks feel a sense of superiority and tend to bully or pick on the other students they are not a part of this clique. The students in this group are made out to be the most popular kids in school and many others become envious of them. Another clique formed by highschool students are the nerds or the geeks. This students that make up this group are intrested in learning, computers, and video games. These students tend to make good grades and are very smart.  Most nerds tend to be in the school band. This group is most of the time known as the least popular in the school. Therefore they get picked on more than any of the other cliques, mainly by the jocks. The students who dress in dark colors and are very intriverted are refered to as the emo group or misfits. The intrests of the people who make up this group are loud music, skateboarding, and art. The apperence of this group differs from the others in that they have a very unique style. Dyed black hair, tight t-shirts and skinny jeans are only some ways this group would express themselves. There are many disadvantages of being involved in a clique throughout high school. For example, being in a clique can lead students to make stupid mistakes and decions. People involved in cliques are more likely to get pregnant or do drugs while in high school. Being involved in a clique could also spark jealously in less popular people. Along with the disadvanges comes many more advantages of being involved in a clique. Being involoved in a clique allows students to learn to be more comfortable around others. It also helps increase students’ self confidence. Students who are involved in a clique have a greater chance of not getting picked on throughout high school. Having a large group of friends and knowing that someone always has your back is another advantage of being in a clique. This, as many students should know, helps getting though high school much easier. In conclusion, being in a clique makes high school much easier to get through but can also cause a lot of unnesicary drama. Since fitting in is so important to in high school, cliques are an easy way for students to feel a sense of belonging. Cliques are very influencual in high school because they affect every student in some way or another.
